Tacit Golf has appointed Shelden Legg as its new sales rep for south east England.
“I had a very early introduction to greenkeeping. When I was just five years old, my grandfather would wake me up at 5am during the school holidays to go to work with him. I’d spend the mornings hitting balls up and down the fairways while he worked on the course before the members arrived for the first tee time. That’s really where my passion for the game blossomed, eventually leading me to play for the Kent youth side,” he explains.
“Life eventually got busy with work and raising my four daughters, which took my focus away from the course for a while. However, I always had that desire to get back into the industry that dominated my childhood and gave me the fondest of memories.
“My daughters keep me very busy these days with their own hobbies like gymnastics and horse riding. They’ve also taken up golf, and while they don’t know it yet, I have secret aspirations of seeing them on the LPGA tour one day!
“I’m a fan of pretty much anything competitive like rugby, cricket, boxing, golf, football and darts. With four kids, my ‘participation’ is mostly limited to watching these days rather than playing. I currently play off eight. I can still hit the ball well enough, but my short game definitely leaves a lot to be desired, and we all know that’s where the real scoring happens!

“Returning to the industry that shaped my childhood has been an incredible experience. The greenkeeping community is remarkably welcoming, and I’m gaining invaluable knowledge every day from the team at Tacit and the greenkeeping staff I meet on-site every day. I’m committed to using my passion for the game to provide the best possible service and support to the courses I visit.”
