A new golf course maintenance depot has been completed at Glenrothes Golf Course, with £1.25 million of investment from Fife Council.
The purpose-built facility is designed to transform maintenance operations, equipment storage and deployment across all seven of Fife Golf Trust’s courses.
It includes modern workshop facilities for sharpening, servicing, repairing and preparing the trust’s fleet of maintenance machinery. With these jobs brought together in one dedicated site, more staff time can go into maintaining and presenting the courses to the highest standard.
The depot also supports the trust’s environmental ambitions. It has solar panels and is designed for the trust’s new fleet of electric and hybrid machinery, with dedicated charging facilities to support the move to cleaner operations.

The investment is expected to cut fuel consumption and the associated carbon emissions by 60-70 percent, and to reduce servicing and maintenance costs. Better facilities should also help the trust prepare and maintain machinery more efficiently, improving equipment availability and productivity.
Councillor Linda Erskine, Fife Council’s spokesperson for communities and leisure, said: “This £1.25 million investment demonstrates our commitment to supporting high-quality golf facilities across Fife while helping deliver our environmental ambitions. Public golf courses play an important role in ensuring the game remains accessible and affordable for local people of all ages and abilities. By investing in the facilities and infrastructure that support our courses, we’re helping protect these valued community assets and ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come.”
Neil Crooks, chairman of Fife Golf Trust’s board, added: “The completion of this facility marks a significant milestone for Fife Golf Trust. It provides the infrastructure needed to support our teams across all seven courses, improves how we maintain and manage our equipment, and strengthens our ongoing commitment to sustainability. This investment will help us deliver long-term operational benefits while continuing to provide high-quality golf courses for the communities and visitors we serve.”
