Police are investigating criminal damage after a golf club in Wiltshire posted shocking images on social media.
Officers believe the damage was caused by an individual riding a motocross bike on several greens at High Post Golf Club overnight on December 6.
The club said three of its holes were particularly badly affected.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We have received a report of criminal damage at High Post Golf Club, which is believed to have happened overnight on December 6.
“It’s believed the damage was caused by somebody riding a motocross bike over the putting green. Flags have also been stolen from the course.
“Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54250159826.”
In an email to members, club manager Andy Rideout said: “We had some visitors who thought doughnuts on tees and greens would be fun.

“The first, third and fourth holes are particularly affected. A lot of hard work all down the ‘hole’.
“This is criminal damage and it has been reported to the police. Any further information can be reported to the club.
“Unlikely the perpetrators will ever be caught – hope they had a great time!
“Unfortunately, it is a public bridleway, so there are limited options to stop this, particularly electric bikes.
“We will investigate what, if anything, can be done to try and mitigate the risk.”
High Post Golf Club has held several events since the criminal damage was caused.
The club said: “Great to see so many members out on the course for our Cha Cha Cha on January 1 – proof that a little winter chill doesn’t stop the High Post spirit!
“A superb way to kick off the new year with good company, fresh air and competitive golf. Here’s to plenty more great days on the course ahead.”
