Ashburnham Golf Club in Carmarthenshire has shared images of deep tyre marks on its 12th green after bikes were ridden across the putting surface outside club hours.
The damage happened on Sunday 11 October, some time after 6pm. The club believes two bikes were involved but does not know what type they were. The green was unplayable, and the hole was closed on Monday.

The club said the damage was “unacceptable and will not be tolerated”. An official said: “Our greens staff work tirelessly to maintain the course and this kind of vandalism causes unnecessary damage, affects playing conditions and takes valuable time and resources to repair.”

There are no CCTV cameras covering the area around the 12th green. The club has told Dyfed-Powys Police and is asking anyone with information about suspicious activity around the course on Sunday evening to call the pro shop on 01554 832269 (option 1). “We take the protection of our course seriously and will take appropriate action against anyone found responsible,” the official said.

The club’s greenkeeping team has already improved the surface, and the 12th reopened for play on Tuesday. The club thanked the team for its “commitment, professionalism and swift response”, saying it allowed members and visitors to enjoy the course as quickly as possible. “It does not go unnoticed,” it said.
