The R&A is seeking a high-calibre European agronomist.

The successful candidate will join the Sustainable Agronomy team to deliver a best practice sustainable agronomy revenue-generating service to external golf club customers and stakeholders.

You will be providing recognised expertise, to allow them to protect themselves from the challenges posed by climate change, resource restrictions and legislative change and promote golf courses as a force for good.

About The R&A

Based in St Andrews, The R&A runs The Open, elite amateur events, international matches and rankings. Together The R&A and the USGA govern the sport of golf worldwide, operating in separate jurisdictions but sharing a commitment to a single code for the Rules of Golf, Rules of Amateur Status and Equipment Standards. The R&A, through R&A Rules Ltd, governs the sport worldwide, outside of the United States and Mexico, on behalf of over 41 million golfers in 144 countries and with the consent of 159 organisations from amateur and professional golf. The R&A is committed to working for golf and supports the growth of the sport internationally and the development and management of sustainable golf facilities.

Our agronomist will also be supporting R&A European Affiliate Member Organisations and Federation professionals.

About You

The ideal candidates will have experience as an agronomist / turf manager, ideally within the context of sustainable golf course management. Based in central mainland Europe (though other regions, such as UK, will be considered), you will possess regional qualifications necessary to comply with local legislation and technical delivery requirements. You should be familiar with the regional legislation, climates and cultures of central and northern Europe and ideally be multilingual in the relevant languages. With a strong understanding of agronomy practices, you will confidently represent The R&A across these regions. Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and a willingness to travel are essential. Training and support will be provided to ensure you meet The R&A’s high standards and quality expectations.
