Kelly-Marie Clack received, on behalf of Origin Amenity Solutions, a special ‘Innovation Award’ at this year’s SALTEX.
The award was for the company’s Turf Science and Technology Centre, a £500.000 investment that will offer the amenity turf sector a greater understanding of amenity grass management and the ever-changing climatic conditions we face. Work at the centre will explore integrated turf management plans, new technologies such as robotics and drainage solutions, and gather scientific data on turf management subjects that are so important in advancement of agronomic knowledge within the amenity industry.
This award advocates the hard work and dedication from all involved in the build at Turf Science Centre complex near Dunmow in Essex, including industry partners for the support and time given to achieve this first class facility. The first trials went down in June and a trials manager and director of research and development have been appointed. The site comprises of a conference centre, laboratories, greenhouse and the trials area and an amenity grassland area featuring a native soil sportsturf area and a USGA constructed fineturf area both fully irrigated. A weather station and in-field soil sensors are also installed. It is the aim of the centre to hold multiple group events at the site throughout the year.
Kelly-Marie Clack is the agronomy and technical manager for Origin Amenity Solutions.
