‘No washdown in any bunker despite recent thunderstorms’

Well placed investment is paying dividends for Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society, the fourth oldest club in the world. During the winters of 2017 and 2018 the course was extensively renovated with architect Tom Mackenzie of Makenzie & Ebert, alongside contractor 1st Golf Construction, which included all bunkers lined with Capillary Concrete. All shaping and drainage were carried out by the contractor, with the club’s own staff, led by course manager Neil Hogg, undertaking the installation of the liner.

After the recent heavy storms in August, Neil was fearing the worst on his way in to work, especially with more than 50mm of overnight rainfall, however his fears were unfounded. The following was posted by Neil on social media: “Well it is safe to say after some of the worst thunder and lightning I have witnessed as a greenkeeper, the course and bunkers have held up really well. No water or washdown in any bunker and the course is looking fantastic. Hard work and redevelopment of the course paying off.”

This has resulted in the saving of many hours work repairing the bunkers and is yet another example to the performance of Capillary Bunkers, the ease of installation and outstanding long-term value cannot be overlooked.
