Stephen Lindsay has been promoted to golf courses manager at Gleneagles, one of the leading jobs in the greenkeeping industry.
Stephen has been at Gleneagles since arriving in Perthshire in 2019, prior to its hosting of the Solheim Cup. Before this, Stephen was at Wentworth Club in Surrey.
His early career saw him enjoy periods at Cape Kidnappers Golf Course, New Zealand, Ohio State University internship at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, USA, and tournament preparation work at Quail Hollow Club for the 2014 Wells Fargo Championship and 2017 PGA Championship.
Commenting on his promotion, Stephen said: “To be able to work alongside Scott Fenwick, our director of agronomy and estates, with over 40 years’ knowledge, and take a leading role in the management of three championship courses at one of the world’s greatest golf estates is very special.
“Gleneagles is a spectacular golf experience and I’m proud to play my part in the next chapter of its life.”
Andrew Jowett, director of golf at Gleneagles, added: “Stephen was a very clear first-choice candidate for this important role, and it shows the depth of international and domestic greenkeeping talent we have among the existing team, that we were able to appoint from within.
“Stephen understands the level of preparation and investment required to keep all three championship golf courses in first class condition, and I’m confident, working alongside Scott, he will grasp this management opportunity with enthusiasm and passion.”
