Macdonald invests £550,000 in course upgrades

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, the UK’s largest independently owned hotel group, is investing £550,000 to enhance the playing conditions of its golf courses.
Highlighting the group’s on-going commitment to ensuring the courses remain in prime condition throughout the year, a number of enhancements, including bunker renovation, greens’ project works and pathway redevelopment, will be completed by the end of 2016, while each venue also has a new fleet of course maintenance vehicles.
Golf course upgrades have been made at Macdonald Linden Hall Golf & Country Club, Northumberland, Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa, Shropshire, Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf & Spa, Cheshire, Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa, Peebles and Macdonald Aviemore Resort, Highlands, home of Spey Valley Golf Course, which hosts the annual SSE Scottish Hydro Challenge on the European Challenge Tour.
Keith Pickard, group director of golf and health and fitness at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, said: “We want every golfer to experience course conditions and service like they were playing in a professional event.
“We are confident our course upgrades will help us showcase all of the Macdonald Hotels & Resorts courses in their best condition for the 2016/2017 season and beyond, ensuring they are must-play courses for visiting golfers.
