Another golf club joins the growing number of courses that are choosing Capillary Concrete as their bunker liner of choice.
Whitecraigs GC, a classic parkland course in the Giffnock suburb of Glasgow, is a club that has a rich history. Originally laid out by William Fernie in 1905, alterations were conducted under the supervision of James Braid.
Following a successful trial of two bunkers in March 2019 the decision was taken to renovate the remaining 43 bunkers with Capillary Concrete to be installed in all. Work began in October 2020 and was completed by December. The shaping, drainage and installation of Capillary Concrete was carried out by Greentech Sportsturf.
“It was an easy decision to make after we had seen the performance and reduced maintenance of the two trial bunkers,” explained course manager Peter Hall.
The club will now be able to enjoy many years of well-draining, consistent bunkers with the added benefit of reduced maintenance and less sand replenishment due to the properties of Capillary Concrete.
With a return on investment of between two and five years, a life expectancy of 15+ years and the back-up of a 10-year ‘Performance Guarantee’ with no deductions, unique in the golf industry.
Capillary Concrete can be installed by the club’s own staff or a contractor, either way full support and training is provided. The liner arrives at the club pre-mixed so just simply needs transporting to the bunkers and laying, a typical area of 100m² can be completed in under 90 minutes.
