Golf Club Limpachtal, Switzerland, recently became the latest European venue to commission a full bunker renovation using Durabunker’s patented synthetic edge product. Working with course architect Erich Steiner, of Steiner & Partners, Durabunker was able to provide a presence on site to lead the initial phase of the project and train local contractors in the installation of the product.
Rhydian Lewis, co-owner of all granted patents associated with the product, commented: “Despite the obvious challenges, we are well positioned to implement projects throughout Europe and beyond, through our network of partners and key staff. We all felt it was essential to have a presence on site from the outset of the project at Limpachtal GC and we will continue to support the project as it continues.
“The golf club suffers with severe flooding and was looking for a solution to stabilise their bunker edges in extreme weather. Golf Park Zurichsee, not that far away, was the forerunner for Durabunker in Switzerland with our bunker edges standing up to extreme flooding, 35mm rain events and everything nature has thrown at it over the past five years. Not one bunker throughout Europe has failed since installation, which is testament to the product as well as its installation.”
Durabunker continues to experience rapid growth in Europe as well as the UK. Other projects in Switzerland at venues such as GC Domat Ems and GC Lavaux as well as new projects in Austria, Germany, Sweden, Spain France and a first in Vietnam, among others, have kept the team very busy through this autumn and winter.
“As well as growth throughout Europe, our design and build service in the UK has grown significantly. Projects in Henbury, The Dyke, Davenport, Westgate and Birchington and Littlehampton all utilising our services as well as our bunker edging and bunker liner products. We’re very grateful that we’ve managed to grow the business through a very challenging time.”
