Durabunker had a strong end to 2023

Durabunker travelled very far and wide in autumn 2023 whilst continuing a busy period in the UK with projects at venues such as Royal Lytham and The Belfry, where Durabunker synthetic bunker edging and walls were installed on their respective new academy areas. Other major contracts at Chippenham GC, Normanby Hall GC and Ross on Wye GC have also been on-going through the same period.

Rhydian Lewis, owner at Durabunker, commented: “It was a real privilege for us to work with both an Open Championship venue, and a Ryder Cup venue, in the space of a week.

“Both projects saw us work with the local greenkeeping teams and support the installation of our patented synthetic bunker edge.

“At The Belfry the principal contractor was P Quinn Construction, who did a fantastic job on the ground works. Other clubs chose to engage us as contractors, where we have been responsible for the entirety of the construction work, as well as installing bunker liner and edging.”

The busy autumn period also saw Durabunker’s patented synthetic bunker edging installed on four different continents, with projects as far afield as the Middle East and Australia, and Royal Sydney GC being the latest venue ‘Down Under’ to agree to the use of the bunker edging system.

Closer to home, Angus Mcleod, estates manager at The Belfry, commented: “Durabunker staff were a pleasure to work with and patiently led our team through the first phase of the build. The product has provided a fabulous finish to a high-volume play area, and I’d highly recommend Durabunker.”

Meanwhile, Durabunker’s involvement in the new short-game academy at Royal Lytham, designed by Martin Ebert of Mckenzie and Ebert, has seen the company add one of the most esteemed golf courses in the world to its portfolio.

Lewis concluded: “We’ve been very fortunate to work with some of the most well-known courses on the planet this autumn, and we feel very privileged to have done so.”
