BTME preview: Durabunker

Royal Belgium GC, ranked the third best course in Belgium, recently completed a first phase bunker project using Durabunker in collaboration with its distributor Groen Services. The project was focused on a handful of bunkers, designed to introduce Durabunker’s Synthetic Bunker Edge product to the golf course, along with Capillary Bunker Liner.

Rhydian Lewis, founder of Durbaunker, commented: “Having worked as a contractor to install our synthetic bunker edge at Royal Antwerp GC, and also through our distributors Groen Service, at Royal Zoute, we have now established ourselves at all of the top three ranked courses in Belgium, which is a real thrill for us.

“This project was executed to an outstanding specification via our distributors and licenced installers, who installed Durabunker along with Capillary Bunker Liner, resulting in a fully sealed bunker system, which addresses bunker challenges in their entirety, and really is the gold standard in bunker construction.”

Alongside their patented synthetic bunker edge product, Durabunker offers several different bunker liners, and also has a strong relationships with a number of bunker liner companies, enabling them to offer clients a broad range of products.

Lewis continued: “We have never thought it wise to align ourselves with any one liner, rather we have positioned ourselves to offer a variety of liners to suit all budgets and environments to complement our core bunker edge product.

“This means we can offer genuinely impartial advice, ensuring course managers understand the importance of attributes such as in plane water flow rates, sand pass through rates, shear strength and so on. This enables course managers to make their own decisions, based on facts and independent testing and enables us to compliment our bunker edging with their chosen liner.”

The project at Royal Belgium has been met with great positivity and the fully sealed bunker system continues to prove itself as the number one bunker construction method on the market.
