Carnoustie Golf Links has hosted a first of its kind 10-hole championship on The Carnoustie Championship Course, which was open to all its season ticket holders.
Hosted in association with The Double A Trading Company, which is a Carnoustie Golf Links John Deere turf equipment partner, providing a wide range of garden, estate and professional turf equipment, the tournament was played over 10 holes.
The tournament was inspired by the course’s original architect, Allan Robertson, who laid out the first 10 holes in 1842 (although the first record of golf played on this links land dates all the way back to 1527).
Sandy Armit, managing director at Double A, said: “Supplying the equipment which keeps Carnoustie Golf Links in world-renowned condition is an honour for us. There is a real need to make competitive golf more accessible to all ages and abilities, and this competition does exactly that which we are extremely proud of and excited to see where it goes.”
Michael Wells, chief executive at Carnoustie Golf Links, said: “We were delighted that Double A were working with us to bring this extraordinary tournament to life. They have provided us with the very best John Deere greenkeeing equipment that allows us to keep our courses in championship condition at all times. And that’s what our competitors in this 10-hole championship found on the day – an outstanding golf course in excellent condition.
Ten-year-old junior golfer Nina Fisher became the very first winner of the Carnoustie Golf Links 10-Hole Championship in association with Double A Trading Company, and won with it a round of golf with 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie.
